Monday Morning, the Team Knows Whose Job It Is

Policy Compass now opens on a Priorities page - your team's weekly regulatory priorities, ranked and claimable, with a Monday summary email to run the week from.

Flat-vector illustration of a professional kitchen pass at morning briefing: a head chef in an orange neckerchief reads a rail of order tickets while one cook claims a ticket, another is handed one, and a third spikes a finished ticket - the way a regulatory team claims, delegates and completes its weekly regulatory priorities from one shared list

On Monday 7 September 2026 at 08:00, the first Policy Compass weekly regulatory priorities emails went out: each team’s week - what needs action, what is worth knowing, what is coming - ranked for their business, with owners attached. Behind the email is a bigger change: the app now opens on a Priorities page, a live version of the same list that a team can run its Monday meeting from.

This feature has a short origin story, and for once I can tell it almost in real time.

TL;DR

  • What shipped: Policy Compass now opens on the Priorities page - your weekly regulatory priorities in three sections (Act, Aware, On the horizon), ranked for your business and your role - with claiming, delegation and a Monday 08:00 summary email of the same list.
  • Where it came from: a regulatory team on trial told us the value was arriving in “drips and drabs”, and described the weekly team view they actually wanted. We built it in the four days after the call.
  • Who it’s for: regulatory teams that coordinate - who owns what, is everything covered - not just individuals staying informed.
  • Try it: request a trial and we set your team up by hand.

The call that designed it

A week last Wednesday, 2 September, I was on a trial review call with a regulatory team - a small team covering a wide patch, the shape almost every team we speak to turns out to be. I expected feature requests. What I got instead was a description of a workflow we had not built.

The daily notifications were doing their job, one of them said, but the value was arriving in “drips and drabs”. What they wanted was the whole picture once a week: “these are the code developments we think you should be aware of, this is the Ofgem stuff - all into one email, still using the star rating.” And then the part that actually changed our roadmap - the reason they wanted it was not reading. It was coordination: “are we on these? Do we need to be on these? Who can get on them?”

They wanted something they could build a team ritual around. As one of them put it, the fundamentals were already in the product - it just wasn’t in the right shape to run a Monday meeting off.

I floated a rough idea on the call: what if there were a priorities page, not just an email - the same list, live in the app, with all the actions on it? The reply: “I really like the Radar page, but - just bang, here are our priorities, right there.”

We built it over the four days that followed and emailed the team on Sunday evening. The first Monday summary went out the next morning at 08:00.

What the Policy Compass Priorities page is

The Policy Compass Priorities page: a morning greeting with the week's summary line, an Act section listing open consultations ranked out of ten with draft-a-response and claim buttons and owner avatars, and a sidebar showing who on the team is on what, unclaimed items, and the Monday summary schedule

The screenshot is our own Meet George account on Policy Compass - a TPI profile, so everything in it is ranked and explained for a TPI. Each account is tuned to its own sector and business. Click the image to enlarge.

The Priorities page is the ranked, live view of your team’s weekly regulatory priorities - and it is now the first thing Policy Compass opens on. It starts with your week in one line - what to act on, what to be aware of, what is on the horizon - then splits it:

SectionWhat is in itWhat you do with it
ActOpen consultations with live deadlines, each with its relevance rating and closing dateDraft a response, ask Research, claim it or delegate it
AwareDevelopments worth raising in the team meeting even if no response is neededRead the commentary, ask Research about it
On the horizonHigh-relevance items whose deadlines are further outSee it coming, plan ownership early

The consultations in the screenshot are real - that week our own Act list held two open RECCo (opens in new tab) consultations and an Ofgem statutory consultation (opens in new tab) from the energy code reform programme (opens in new tab), all with closing dates inside six weeks. Exactly the kind of week where knowing who owns what matters.

Everything is ranked for your business and for your role, and the page stays live through the week - items that land after Monday are marked as new.

The point of all this is ownership: any item can be claimed (“I’ll take this”), and a sidebar shows who is on what - including the number nobody has claimed yet.

How the weekly regulatory priorities email works

The Monday priorities summary email from Policy Compass: the week's ranked list with relevance ratings, each item carrying a short plain-language explanation of what it is and why it matters, with its owner status shown

Policy Compass’s Monday email is a snapshot of the Priorities page at 08:00, and it deliberately behaves like a standing agenda rather than a news feed. An open consultation appears again the following Monday if it is still open - closer to its deadline, higher up the list - because regulatory deadlines do not care whether you saw the announcement.

The detail we are most pleased with came directly from the call. Each item carries a one-line explanation of what it is and why it matters, written to be readable outside the regulatory team - because the team told us the summary is the one thing they would forward to their executive team, who are not regulation specialists. So every one-liner is written to survive being sent upwards.

How delegation works in Policy Compass

The delegation email from Policy Compass: a teammate has delegated a regulatory item, shown with its relevance rating and a note on why it matters, with Accept and Decline buttons that work directly from the email

The coordination question from the call - “who can get on them?” - needed delegation, so that shipped too. Pick a teammate on any item and they get an email: what it is, why it matters, and Accept or Decline buttons that work straight from the inbox. Decline asks for a one-line reason and puts the item back on the team’s unowned list, so a handover that did not land gets reassigned instead of silently dropped. A delegation that can be declined is a real question, not a hospital pass.

Has it worked?

Honestly: we do not know yet. The first Monday emails have gone out, the page is live for every team, and the regulatory team whose call started all this is partly on leave - so the test that matters, a real team running a real Monday meeting off it, has not fully happened. That is the deal with building this product in the open: we shipped what the practitioners described, and now we find out whether we heard them correctly. Ask us in two Mondays.

What shipped, in one paragraph: Policy Compass now opens on the Priorities page - your team’s weekly regulatory priorities in three ranked sections, Act, Aware and On the horizon, interpreted for your business and each person’s role. Items can be claimed, delegated with a proper accept-or-decline answer, marked done or snoozed, and every Monday at 08:00 the whole team gets the same list as an email built to be forwarded beyond the regulatory team.

If your team’s Monday currently starts with everyone separately reading the same inbox, this is the part of Policy Compass built for you - request a trial and run next Monday’s meeting off your own priorities page.

Straight answers about business energy.

The Priorities page is what Policy Compass now opens on: a live, ranked view of your team's regulatory week. It splits the week into Act (open consultations with deadlines, each with a draft-a-response action), Aware (developments worth knowing about or asking Research about) and On the horizon (upcoming items with future deadlines). Everything is ranked for your business and your role, team members can claim or delegate items, and the page keeps updating as new developments land through the week.

Every Monday at 08:00, each team member receives a snapshot of the Priorities page: the week's ranked list with owners and statuses attached. It behaves as a standing agenda rather than a news feed - an open consultation keeps appearing as its deadline approaches, because it is a to-do item, not a news item. Each entry carries a short plain-language line so the email can be forwarded to an executive unchanged, and there is a per-user toggle to turn it off.

Yes. Pick a teammate on any priority item and they receive an email with what the item is, why it matters, and Accept and Decline buttons that work without logging in. Accepting makes them the owner on the team's Priorities page; declining asks for a quick reason and returns the item to the unowned list so it can be reassigned rather than silently dropped. You can also claim an item yourself, mark it done when your team has responded, or snooze it.

Radar is the monitoring layer - it watches what is published across UK energy's regulators and industry codes and creates commentary on what they publish. The Priorities page is deliberately narrower: just your team's world for the week, ranked, with ownership attached. Radar answers 'what is happening in the market?'; the Priorities page answers 'what are we doing about it, and who owns each piece?'

That is one of the main things it was designed for. Each item in the Monday email carries a short plain-language line - what it is and why it matters - written to survive being read by someone outside the regulatory team. A regulatory team we trialled it with told us the summary is the one thing they would forward to their executive team, so it works as a weekly view of the regulatory workload without the technical detail.
